Bouwinvest Real Estate Investors has committed €75 mln to French residential and healthcare real estate projects via a stake in the closed-end AEW Residys fund.
The Dutch institutional investor said it was accelerating plans to invest internationally, with a particular focus on the senior and general residential market in France.
The AEW Residys fund which holds both residential and senior housing assets in its French metropolitan portfolio. AEW aims to grow the current portfolio of around 600 homes (11 projects) to approximately 35 projects.
According to Bouwinvest research, the demand for rental housing is expected to grow substantially on the back of the country’s growing population and ageing demographic profile, particularly in the main metropolitan areas.
Bouwinvest said it expected its European investment portfolio to grow from €1.0 bn this year to €1.5 bn over the next two years, as part of a broader strategy to expand international AUM to €4.3 bn by 2020. Total AUM is expected to grow to € 13 bn in 2020.
