The Boston Consulting Group (BCG) has become the second major international company to announce this week that it is moving to the Zuidas business district in Amsterdam. The management consulting firm is to lease 6,400 m[sup]2[/sup] spread over the 5th, 4th and part of the 3rd floor of the SOM building in the centre of the burgeoning Zuidas business district in the Dutch capital. The SOM building is own by German fund CGI.

The management consulting firm is to lease 6,400 m2 spread over the 5th, 4th and part of the 3rd floor of the SOM building in the centre of the burgeoning Zuidas business district in the Dutch capital. At the moment the Dutch arm of BCG has two locations in the town of Baarn. It has recently considered the relocating to the leafy residential 't Gooi area, Schiphol, or Amsterdam. Ultimately, BCG chose amsterdam and will move into the SOM building in mid November next year. BCG has offices in 64 countries and employs more than 3,000 consultants worldwide.

Property advisor DTZ Zadelhoff acted for BCG in the SOM leasing and CGI was advised by Van Gool Elburg Vastgoedspecialisten.

Earlier this week, Dutch chemical giant Akzo Nobel announced it is moving its headquarters from the eastern Dutch city of Arnhem to the Amsterdam by 2010. Akzo chose ING Real Estate to help develop a new building of 12,000 m2 in the Beethoven portion of the Zuidas district to improve international access to the headquarters and help drive the company's future success.
