Pan-European investment manager Boreal IM has appointed Nicky Menten as vice president, joining from Deloitte.
Bringing over ten years of experience in real estate M&A and corporate finance, Menten previously worked as an accountant at PwC and in the debt finance department at Hungerford Properties, a Vancouver-based real estate investment, management, and development company.
Menten will be responsible for bolstering Boreal's asset and portfolio management strategies, including fundraising, debt management, and acquisitions.
Simultaneously, the firm has promoted Xavier Aubrun from VP to principal within its investments team. A key figure in Boreal's expansion in France, Aubrun will continue to lead investment and acquisition strategies from the Paris office, driving further growth in the French market.
Peter Bingel, CFO and partner at Boreal IM, said: ‘Nicky brings a proven track record across the capital stack, and a diverse skill-set that will help drive existing asset performance as well as unlock future investment opportunities. We look forward to his contributions to Boreal, where we continue to focus on the performance of our portfolio through recruiting top talent.’
Nikos Koulouras, partner at Boreal IM, added: ‘Xavier has been central to our continued growth in France, where our local presence is key to driving deal flow in a core geography for Boreal.’
Nicky Menten, VP, Asset Management, Boreal IM, commented: ‘Boreal’s positioning, coupled with the experience of the partners and its ability to attract capital from one of the world’s largest pension funds, was an attractive proposition for me. I look forward to being exposed to different parts of the business and lending my expertise.’
The joint venture between Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan (OTPP) and Boreal IM, established in 2022, currently manages over €1.3 bn in assets across the UK, Italy, Netherlands, Spain, France, and Germany.
