The Rights of Light offering will be nationwide and Maddox will work alongside Ian Bragg, national head of Building Consultancy.

Maddox specialises in assisting clients maximise development area while mitigating the risk associated with Rights of Light. He has worked on a number of the UK’s largest development and regeneration projects at his time at GIA, successfully building and running a team of twelve surveyors and CAD analysists.

The common law easement of Rights of Light and the Daylight and Sunlight planning requirement, are a significant constraint on new development in built up areas. Understanding the impact on both is therefore paramount for developers looking to increase massing on development opportunities.

Ian Bragg, national head of Building Consultancy at BNP Paribas Real Estate commented: ‘Bringing Daniel on board, a leading expert with a strong market standing in this area, will bolster the premium service we offer our clients. There are clear synergies with our planning and development business lines where our clients need early, expert and commercial rights of light advice to maximise the potential of development sites. Having the service in-house also differentiates us from a number of our direct multi-disciplinary competitors.’
