US private equity giant Blackstone has acquired two large office complexes in Amsterdam, PropertyEU has learned.

Based on data from the Dutch land registry, a Dutch limited company called Maxima Propco V, owned by Blackstone, has bought the Tripolis office for €72.5 mln and the Zuiderhoff II for €57.6 mln in the vicinity of the prestigious Zuidas (South Axis) business district.

Tripolis comprises three office buildings totalling 24,000 m2 and was completed in 1994. The vendor is AXA Investment Managers which acquired the complex in 2003 from ING Real Estate for €78.5 mln. A large portion of the building – 19,200 m2 - is for rent. Currently the largest tenant in Nikon, which signed up for 4,500 m2 of office space in 2012. Other tenants in the past include BNP Paribas, local law firm De Brauw Blackstone Westbroek and temp agency Vedior.

Zuiderhof II is located on Jachthavenlaan 109-11 and is part of the office area to the west of the VU academic hospital. Blackstone’s Dutch vehicle bought the office, which consists of several buildings and totals 17,500 m2, from German investment manager Patrizia. Tenants include the ICT staff of Dutch law firm Loyens & Loeff and the Brazilian airplane builder Embraer (1,800 m2). Some 1,776 m2 is currently available for rent.

In 2015, Singapore-based First Sponsor Group bought the adjacent Zuiderhof 1 (12,500 m2) for a sum of €51.5 mln. At the beginning of this year Munich-based Real IS acquired three smaller office assets located on the complex and totalling 6,145 m2 for €44.9 mln.
