Irish listed real estate investor Blackrock International Land has announced this week that its joint venture with Applecross Properties has made another acquisition close to Edinburgh. The latest deal involves the purchase of the Jewel and Esk Valley College campus for £ 24.2 mln (EUR 34.8 mln) including costs. The campus comprises 6.37 hectares of land in Eskbank, just outside Dalkeith, which is about 16 km south of Edinburgh city centre.

Midlothian Council has granted outline planning consent for a residential development of 140 executive houses on the site. Last month the joint venture announced the purchase of 121.4 hectares of farm land, also to the south of Edinburgh. Last year they acquired BBC Scotland's 2.1-hectare former broadcasting centre in Glasgow for EUR 7 mln and the 3.6-hectare former Fruitmarket to the west of Edinburgh city centre for EUR 28 mln.
