BlackRock Real Assets has closed a debt investment, alongside other institutional investors, forming part of the £275 mln (€323 mln), for Trafford Housing Trust in the UK city of Manchester.

Jonathan Stevens, head of European Infrastructure debt at BlackRock, said: 'This financing provides an excellent opportunity to invest in the UK social housing sector, which is an essential service and provides our clients with an inherently stable, long-term cash flow profile.'

The transaction also rounded off 2016 for BlackrRock's global infrastructure debt platform, bringing total assets under management to $4.6 bn (€4.3 bn) by year-end and investments across 37 transactions globally, Stevens added.
