Pan-European real estate developer Besix Red has appointed Raphaël Legendre as country director for Belgium.
'The appointment of Raphaël as director of Belgium demonstrates our wish to consolidate and moreover give a fresh momentum to our development policy in Belgium,' said Gabriel Uzgen, CEO Besix Red. 'His background and experience in the development of multifunctional urban projects is a considerable asset for Besix Red.'
Besix Red, which operates across residential, office, retail and services real estate, currently has almost 30 projects in progress in Belgium representing some 475,000 m2 of space.
Legendre has been tasked with extending the firm's reach across Belgium's three regions with a focus on revitalising and reconnecting urban neighbourhoods.
'The future of the city lies in quality. Obviously architectural quality, but also of the proposed programmes, public spaces, air quality and the environment,' Legendre said. 'Our real estate projects must bring added value to the neighbourhoods in which they are located, both for our occupants and for the residents and users of the city as a whole.'
Legendre started his career in 2007 as a civil engineer at Bouygues Construction in Paris, before moving to Belgium in 2009 to work as a design & build project manager (DBFM) at CIT Blaton.
From 2012 to 2018, he was project manager at Besix Red Belgium, where he was responsible for the coordination and management of real estate developments. In 2018, he joined Immobel Group where he focused on mixed-use urban developments, before returning to Besix Red in 2020 as country director Belgium.
