Benchmarking is the way forward for unlisted fund managers, and this will require much more transparency that we have now, INREV chairman Johan van der Ende told PropertyTV in an interview at the MIPIM trade fair.
‘Now is the time for fund managers to deliver, and we as investors will be asking our fund managers to deliver the information we need, so we can create the necessary transparency in the non-listed market,’ he said.
This information will certainly include the returns funds have made in the past, so INREV can benchmark them against other funds. ‘Benchmarking is essential, so that we as investors can show that we pick the right products and that fund managers deliver the right products,’ Van der Ende said.
