The British Council for Offices will appoint Nick Ridley, executive director of Colliers CRE, as president for 2008-2009 at the BCO’s AGM on Tuesday, the organisation announced in a press statement.

Speaking about his appointment and coming year in office, Ridley said: 'I want to promote efficient performance in every aspect of the development process and to encourage advanced property management delivery in an era where partnering between landlord and tenant has never before had such a high imperative. It is only through such collaboration that energy efficiencies in buildings will flow.'

As the chair of this year’s BCO conference in Brussels, entitled The Art of the State and State of the Art, Ridley oversaw a programme that confronted the uncertainties of the current global economy following the 2007 credit crunch, the influence of the EU and a number of topical seminars and workshops on workplace and green issues.

Commenting on this year's AGM, Richard Kauntze, chief executive of the BCO, said: 'We are delighted that Nick has been appointed as the BCO's president for this coming year. In this era of globalisation, Nick's understanding of the UK and international markets is exactly what the BCO needs to tackle the challenges of today's workplace, particularly in light of global warming and sustainability,' he added.
