German regional bank BayernLB said it is providing a loan of around EUR 40 mln to finance the construction of a new office building for energy company E.ON in Regensburg. The funding will be issued to a closed-end fund managed by Real I.S., a subsidiary of BayernLB, which will undertake the project together with Frankfurt-based Fay Projects.

The 28,000-m2 building has been certified with a Gold sustainability rating, the first property to do so in Eastern Bavaria. BayernLB said it planned to increase its commitment to sustainable property, which it sees as a growth market and key to injecting more energy efficiency into the real estate industry.
