'Daniel brings a wealth of experience in real estate financing across multiple markets, and he will play an important role on our team as we continue to build on the ongoing success of the European debt platform and the expansion of our global offering,' commented Dean Dulchinos, head of structured real estate investments at Barings Real Estate.

Operating across Europe, Köhler will be based in Munich, while reporting to US-based Nasir Alamgir, head of debt capital markets for Barings Real Estate.

'Barings’ European debt platform has undergone a period of significant growth and I look forward to working with the teams in both Europe and the US to support both borrower and investor strategies,' he said.

Köhler brings more than 12 years of experience in commercial real estate finance and debt management across Europe.
He joins from Invesco Real Estate where, since 2011, he was an associate director in structured debt finance, originating debt in excess of €2.0 bn.

Prior to this he held positions at Landesbank Berlin AG and Bayerische Landesbank in locations including London, Munich and Shanghai.

Barings’ European lending platform was first established in 2013 and currently comprises a loan book in excess of £1 bn, now with a team of five arranging senior, whole-loan, mezzanine and development finance.
