Barings has secured over €650 mln of capital commitments to invest in whole loans secured by core plus and value-add European real estate.
Some €300 mln has been awarded to the US asset manager by a Nordic pension and insurance investor.
Barings plans to invest primarily in logistics, residential, student accommodation, build to rent and the private rented sector, and offices in core western European markets including the UK.
Paul Murphy, MD and head of client portfolio management, European Real Estate, said: 'The volume of capital commitments we’ve secured to invest in real estate debt is a reflection of the strength of our European real estate experience.'
Last year, the company managed to make 14 loans in Europe and APAC worth around €1 bn.
