Aviva Investors said on Wednesday that it has started the speculative development of a logistics warehouse in the north of Rotterdam on behalf of one of its clients.
Designed by Heembouw Architecten and located in the Business Park Oudeland – Berkel en Rodenrijs, the warehouse covers approximately 20,300 m2 of lettable space and is expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2021.
It will aim to achieve a BREEAM Very Good rating upon completion.
The property adds to Aviva Investors’ portfolio of logistics assets under management in the Randstad area, which includes the recent acquisitions of a warehouse of 40,000 m2 let to Rotterdam Polymer Hub BV and two institutional-grade logistics assets in Waalwijk and Waddinxveen.
Adrien Beuriot, head of Asset Management, Continental Europe, at Aviva Investors, commented: ‘We are confident this particular space will perform well in our overall portfolio given its location, which will be further strengthened when the proposed extension to the A16 motorway is completed in 2025, increasing its connectivity and enhancing its value.’
Aviva Investors was advised by DLA Piper, Royal Haskoning, Cushman & Wakefield and ELREP.
