Audley Group, a leading developer and operator of retirement villages in the UK, has recruited Shaun Swanepoel as its new group financial director.

He joins from MSC Cruise Management, where he was director of finance and accounting. Prior to this, he held senior roles at EY.

Swanepoel will work closely with CFO Gary Burton to help drive Audley’s growth plans and its strategic financial direction.

Audley was at the centre of market speculation earlier this year that the group was to be sold.

Its main shareholders, private equity firm Moorfield and Danish pension fund PFA, were understood to have appointed Rothschild to advise on options for recapitalising the company.

According to sources at the time, a sale would attract interest from large investors interested in buying a platform to expand into this specialist sector across Europe.

Audley has a portfolio of 21 UK retirement village sites, developments and operating assets under the luxury Audley and midmarket Mayfield brands.
