London-based Amec Developments has been appointed to develop a EUR 455 mln renewal project in Swindon in the south-east of England. The mixed-use site in Swindow Town Centre includes 55,000 m[sup]2[/sup] of office space, 25,000 m[sup]2[/sup] of retail space, a 13,000 m[sup]2[/sup] hotel and 450 residential units. Construction is scheduled to start in 2008.

The mixed-use site in Swindow Town Centre includes 55,000 m2 of office space, 25,000 m2 of retail space, a 13,000 m2 hotel and 450 residential units. Construction is scheduled to start in 2008.

The international project management and services company competed with other developers such as Akeler, Blackfriars Investments, CTP St James and Eastcott Regeneration Partnership for the project. The selection, announced on Thursday, was carried out by the New Swindon Company, jointly founded by by English Partnerships, the South West of England Regional Development Agency and Swindon Borough Council.
