Amazon seems to be following the natural extension of axing 18,000 jobs globally with the closure of some property sites.

The ecommerce giant, which has a total headcount of 1.5 mln, is chopping 18,000 people including in Europe citing an ‘uncertain economy’.

But PA news said that three UK warehouses in Doncaster, Hemel Hempstead and Gourock would close in addition to seven delivery sites, though this comes as the company prepares two new facilities.

The closure of the UK sites would impact 1,200 jobs.

As PropertyEU reported in March 2022, Amazon’s total logistics costs went up 1307% in the past 10 years.

Meanwhile, Segro, one of the most respected managers of industrial space in the UK and Europe, announced a fresh investment of a retail site that could become a data centre.
