The trend toward city-centre living is bringing new asset management opportunities, delegates at the PropertyEU Asset Management Briefing have heard.
‘We are in an interesting part of the cycle in Europe,’ said Etienne Dupuy, a senior director with Invesco. ‘In cities, we have opportunities for alternative uses of properties that were historically used as offices and can now be used as hotels, leisure, or residential.’
Along with this broader trend for city-centre living, new technology and an economic uptick are driving ‘value-add’ opportunities, he believes.
‘Sustainability is becoming established for offices, and many tenants delayed decisions because of the crisis. There are opportunities now for tenants to make structuring decisions for teams and departments and regroup on new premises. It’s very interesting for our industry now, and especially for asset managers, who have a big role to play,’ said Dupuy.
