Alvarez & Marsal adds senior director to London team

Alvarez & Marsal (A&M), a global independent professional services firm, is expanding its European real estate advisory capabilities with the hiring of London-based senior director Ian Morgan from European Resolution Capital. The appointment is the latest senior hire at A&M's real estate business following the arrival of Patrick Anderson and Caspar Vredenbregt in London earlier this year

London-headquartered A&M said the recruitment drive is in direct response to the need for restructuring in the European real estate industry, the very high volume of debt due in the next two years, and the banks' need to deleverage in the face of regulatory pressure.

With more than 15 years of real estate and corporate finance experience, Morgan's expertise lies both in advisory work and principal investing in the property sector. Prior to joining A&M, he spent more than two years with European Resolution Capital, a boutique advisory firm, where he served as portfolio head for real estate. In this capacity, he ran a loan workout group and was responsible for a distressed loan book of over EUR 1 bn. Before this, he served in a deal execution role for Resolution Property in London and Warburg Pincus in New York.
