The Allsop Appointments

Richard Adamson has been appointed residential managing partner while Mark Gower has become commercial managing partner, effective 1 April. Both began their careers at Allsop.

Following his 18 years as managing partner and having reached the age of 60, Chris Berriman will now take on the role of consultant to the firm. He will continue to have an active interest in both residential auctions and the overall success of Allsop.

Adamson began his career with Allsop in 2001 as a graduate surveyor, having previously carried out work experience with the company. He currently leads Allsop’s residential auction team and remains an active auctioneer, responsibilities he will continue to hold.

In his role as residential managing partner, Adamson will provide day-to-day support for Allsop’s growing residential property wing.

Following work experience with Allsop in 1995, Gower joined Allsop as a graduate in 1996 and has risen through the ranks to take on a leadership role in the commercial auction team, helping to maintain its dominance within the commercial auction market.

In addition to remaining part of the leadership of the commercial auction team, Gower will provide support to Allsop’s commercial teams, namely valuations, national investments – including its logistics, retail warehousing, as well as its alternatives specialists.

Both managing partners will work closely with Lesley Connor, Allsop’s CFO and COO, as well as senior partner Scott Tyler, who retains responsibility for the strategic direction of the firm.

Adamson said: 'Having begun my career with Allsop over 20 years ago, it is a huge privilege not only to be taking on this responsibility on behalf of the partnership, but also to be following in the footsteps of fellow residential auctioneer, Chris Berriman, with whom I’m delighted to be continuing to share the rostrum.

'As one of the few partnerships remaining among UK real estate consultancies, Allsop’s people-focused culture has provided us with the resilience not only to weather the current slowdown in the market but to continue making strategic investments, including into our graduate and apprenticeship schemes.'

Said Gower: 'I remember being struck when I joined Allsop almost 30 years ago by the open and friendly partnership culture, and how hands on and approachable the partners were.

'Much has changed over the years but I’m proud to say the culture remains reassuringly the same. I am thrilled by my appointment and I look forward to working with Richard, Scott and Lesley and helping to guide and shape the future of this exceptional firm.'
