Allianz Real Estate has announced the appointment of Donato Saponara as new head of Italy.
Based in Milan, Saponara is responsible for a €3 bn portfolio owned by Allianz investors and composed of core and value add assets (office, retail and hospitality).
Donato Saponara is sitting in Senior Management Committees of Allianz Real Estate for the West Europe Region, which has included Italy since September 2017.
Donato Saponara joined Allianz in 2014 as head of Asset Management before being appointed in May 2017 as head of Transactions. In these functions, he has been responsible for more than €1 bn of deals and led more than €300 mln of capex on repositioning projects within the Allianz portfolio.
Prior to joining Allianz, Saponara spent 14 years in Morgan Stanley acting as a director co-heading the Italian investment team, leading major acquisition, sale and refinancing transactions.
