Rome-based real estate group Aled Spa has purchased the JW Marriott Tiberio Palace Resort & Spa and its serviced apartments on the Italian island of Capri in a sale-and-leaseback deal. The financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.
Jones Lang LaSalle Hotels represented the vendor, Salvatore Naldi Group, which will now focus on the expansion of its hotel management company in primary Italian cities.
Michele De Marco, associate of Jones Lang LaSalle Hotels commented: 'This deal proves that the appetite for trophy assets in prestigious locations with high barriers to entry, such as Capri, is still very strong amongst long-term investors, who are not greatly affected by cyclicality of the hotel market and the financial crisis.'
The hotel is a short walk from the famous piazzetta in the heart of Capri. The property features 61 rooms and 10 serviced apartments at the Residence Tiberio.
