Abu Dhabi-based property developer Aldar Properties and a joint venture in which it participates known as Al Maabar have launched their Abu Dhabi Plaza development project in Astana, Kazakhstan.

Abu Dhabi-based property developer Aldar Properties and a joint venture in which it participates known as Al Maabar have launched their Abu Dhabi Plaza development project in Astana, Kazakhstan.

Located in Astana's Special Economic Zone, the plaza is a mixed-use development comprising retail space, apartment units, international grade office space and a hotel quarter. Aldar Properties says it plans to later expand across Astana's Special Economic Zone. According to Aldar, the zone will provide incentives to investments based on tax and customs preferences will implement scientific and technical achievements in urban planning and allocate plots of land for construction in the new city centre.

Abu Dhabi Plaza has a 5-year construction period with estimated completion in 2012.

Al Maabar is made up of Aldar Properties, Al Qudra Real Estate, Sorouh Real Estate and Al Reem Investments. Aldar Properties stock is quoted on Abu Dhabi Stock Exchange.
