Stockholm-listed investor-owner Akelius Residential Property has sold 31 apartment buildings in Sweden to local property investor Willhem for SEK 2.8 bn (€287 mln).
The transaction is expected to close in March 2017. The sale price of SEK 2.8 bn represents a price per m2 of SEK 23,500.
The 31 properties are located in the cities of Halmstad and Eskilstuna.
Following the disposal, Akelius will own 15,500 apartments in Sweden, of which 8,700 in Stockholm and 6,600 in the Öresund region.
Commenting on the deal, Akelius CEO Pål Ahlsén said: ‘After the sale 83% of our apartments are located in cities with more than one million inhabitants. This is our safety.’
Earlier this month, Akelius struck its first deal in Copenhagen, acquiring 216 apartments in the Danish capital from Capman Nordic Real Estate fund for DKK 321 mln (€43 mln).
Akelius owns 50,000 apartments in Sweden, Germany, France, Canada, England and the US. The company's preference shares are listed on Nasdaq First North in Stockholm.
