German real estate asset manager APO Immobilien-Kapitalanlagegesellschaft (AIK) has acquired a residential property portfolio in Berlin for EUR 34 mln. The vendor was a residential property fund managed by Bouwfonds REIM.

German real estate asset manager APO Immobilien-Kapitalanlagegesellschaft (AIK) has acquired a residential property portfolio in Berlin for EUR 34 mln. The vendor was a residential property fund managed by Bouwfonds REIM.

AIK said in a statement that the transaction was carried out on behalf of one of its real estate special funds.

The portfolio comprises 144 single-family homes in the municipality of Teltow. The properties were built in 2008 and 2009 comprising a total living space of 16,060 m2.

Teltow is in the southern suburban area of Berlin, enjoying a direct fast train connection to the Berlin’s city centre as well as to the airport.

'Our investment strategy 2012 envisages increased acquisition of residential properties in Germany's cities with positive demographic development. We are pleased to have been able to realize two important acquisitions of residential real estate portfolios, Berlin-Staaken and Teltow, this year already.' said AIK chairman Stephan Hinsche.

AIK is a property investment company that operates on behalf of occupational pension funds and insurance companies in Germany.
