Agent Aguirre Newman has been appointed by Inter Ikea Centre Group to manage the letting of Luz shopping centre in Jerez de la Frontera near the Spanish city of Cadiz.

Luz Shopping - the first project opened by Inter Ikea in Spain - provides 126,000 m2 of gross lettable area and is anchored by an Ikea store as well as an Alcampo hypermarket.

The last phase of the scheme providing 15,000 m2 was opened at the end of 2012. It involves a factory outlet and new restaurants.

Copenhagen-based Inter Ikea has so far developed three shopping centres in Spain including Rio Shopping in Arroyo de la Encomienda near Valladolid, Madrid, and Mar Shopping in Matosinhos near Oporto.

This is the latest mandate received by Aguirre Newman in Spain. Last week, the property services group announced it was appointed to manage two new shopping centres, Planetocio in Madrid and Plaza Imperial in Zaragoza, southern Spain.

The mandate brings the total number of malls managed by Aguirre Newman to 18 offering a combined 740,000 m2 of retail space.
