AG Real Estate, formerly known as Fortis Real Estate, has signed a contract with Toulouse-based construction company GA for the construction of the future headquarters of Thales in the Carré 92 business park in Gennevilliers, France. The project, representing a total investment of EUR 145 mln, is currently one of the largest office development sites in France and is expected to be completed by August 2012.
Designed by architects Art & Built and Jean-Paul Rozé, the complex will comprise nine buildings offering 87,500 m2 of total office space and 2,500 underground parking spaces. Thales, a specialist company producing electronics for aeronautics and defence, will relocate to the new scheme from its current head office in nearby Colombes. The buildings will be built according to the latest energy standards.
In Gennevilliers, AG Real Estate is also developing the future headquarters of Groupe Chèque Déjeuner, which will offer around 30,000 m2 of office space on completion.
Fortis Real Estate changed its name into AG Real Estate in September this year after the sale of Groupe Fortis' banking activities to BNP Paribas and the transfer of the insurance business to the Ageas holding, which includes the real estate activities accounting for roughly 8% of the assets under management.
AG Real Estate is active in asset management, development and public car park management via Interparking. It is headed by CEO Alain Devos and has assets worth some EUR 5 bn under management and a 600,000-m2 development pipeline. The company is active in Belgium, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Luxembourg, Austria and the Netherlands.
