Real estate investment manager AEW Europe has hired Thibault Chauvin to lead the planned expansion of its debt platform.

Real estate investment manager AEW Europe has hired Thibault Chauvin to lead the planned expansion of its debt platform.

Chauvin has been appointed head of debt funds. He previously worked at Colony Capital as a managing director responsible for real estate debt strategies and deal origination in Europe. Prior to that he worked at Crédit Foncier as head of International Real Estate Finance, Morgan Stanley and Merrill Lynch in London and in Paris.

AEW Europe launched its debt platform in 2012 raising €323 mln of capital for the Senior European Loan Fund. SELF has recently completed a number of debt transactions in the UK and Europe and expects to finalise its investment programme over the coming months.

Chauvin is based in Paris and reports to Raphael Brault, head of funds and separate accounts.

In addition, AEW has appointed Arabella Edwards as director of funds and separate accounts, based in Paris. She previously worked for LaSalle Investment Management as national director - portfolio management.
