QIC, CBRE Capital Advisors, Future Fund, BNP Paribas Real Estate, Paul Hastings

QIC – The Australian institutional investment manager has appointed two senior infrastructure executives. Giles Tucker will lead QIC’s UK and European infrastructure operations from its London office, and Geoff Chatas will lead QIC’s infrastructure business in North America from the firm’s New York City office. Tucker joins QIC from the Royal Bank of Canada in London, where for more than a decade he was head of infrastructure, transport and logistics for the UK and Europe.

CBRE Capital Advisors  The firm has expanded its global real estate secondaries advisory platform in the Americas. Philip Barker has been appointed senior managing director to lead the team in New York. Barker previously led CBRE’s real estate derivatives team in the US and has worked for Merrill Lynch, Barclays Bank and The Royal Bank of Canada.

Future FundWendy Norris has been promoted to head of infrastructure and timberland. Her promotion fills the vacancy left by Raphael Arndt following his promotion to CIO in September last year. Norris has been a director in the Future Fund’s infrastructure and timberland team since 2010. Prior to joining the firm, Norris was an investment director at Hastings Funds Management in New York, Texas and Melbourne. She previously held project finance roles with ABN AMRO in Chicago and Sydney.

BNP Paribas Real Estate – Barbara Knoflach is to become the global head of investment management following SEB’s sale of SEB Asset Management. Knoflach will step down as chief executive of SEB Asset Management, which is being acquired by Cordea Savills. She will oversee strategy for BNP Paribas’s European investment management arm, which two years ago acquired Germany’s iii-investments and has €20.3bn in assets under management. Knoflach has been chief executive at SEB Asset Management since 2005. Before that, she worked as managing director of German subsidiary SEB Investment from 1999.

Paul HastingsMark Shepherd has joined the London office as a partner. Shepherd, who joins from DLA Piper’s real estate team, has also worked at SJ Berwin (now King & Wood Mallesons).
