Virginia Retirement System has approved $413.5m (€350.4m) worth of new commitments into its real assets portfolio.
The $96.4bn (€81bn) pension fund said it has made a $250m commitment to the Carlyle Realty Partners IX US opportunity fund, made a $75m co-investment into a sidecar vehicle to invest alongside the Artemis Real Estate Partners Income and Growth Fund, and placed €75m into the Antin Infrastructure Partners Mid-Cap I fund.
As previously reported, Carlyle Realty Partners IX is planning to raise $6bn.
According to sources, Artemis plans to raise between $750m and $800m by the end of this year for the core-plus US fund which targets office, multi-family, industrial and some retail and hospitality assets. Artemis did not respond to a request for comment.
The Antin Infrastructure Partners fund, which expects a €1.5bn fundraise, targets mid-size assets in Europe and the US.
