UBS, GCM Grosvenor and Abrdn are among the investors to have contributed £145m to Matter Real Estate’s UK single-family (SFR) rental housing platform.

Matter said the capital raised for Placefirst will be used to develop and manage over 6,500 units, with more than 3,700 already stabilised or under construction.

Placefirst has a core strategy to build and maintain a high-quality, diversified UK SFR portfolio for the long term and an opportunistic one focused on developing and stabilising UK SFR schemes through direct development, joint ventures and forward-funding arrangements with housebuilders.

David Christie, CEO at Matter Real Estate, said: “This capital commitment emphasises Matter’s continued support of Placefirst’s ambitious growth plans, and fits in well with our ongoing commitment to developing high-quality real estate.

“We look forward to further strengthening our longstanding partnership as we continue to consolidate our position in the highly sought-after SFR sector.”
