Teacher Retirement System (TRS) of Texas has expanded its real assets lineup with $245m (€211.8m) of commitments to first-time managers Berkeley Partners and Avant Management, as part of a wider $905m of real estate and infrastructure commitments during May.
TRS of Texas disclosed it made a $200m commitment to Berkeley’s Amperage Industrial, an investment the pension fund placed in its value-add portfolio.
Berkeley, which did not respond to a request for comment, is known for investing in US light industrial assets.
The pension fund also issued $45m into the Avant Infrastructure Co-Investment Fund, to target opportunistic infrastructure in the US.
Other commitments during the period include a $200m investment into BDT & MSD Real Estate Capital Partners and $60m into the Two Sigma Real Estate-managed TSRE Coinvest VI, both opportunistic US real estate strategies.
The pension fund also committed $200m each into the Blackstone Energy Transition Partners V and Blackstone Supplemental Account Bobcat infrastructure/energy strategies.
