Swiss infrastructure fund manager SUSI Partners has entered the UK battery storage sector through a partnership with Eelpower.
SUSI said its Energy Storage Fund has bought three lithium-ion battery storage assets with a cumulative capacity of 40MW from Eelpower and has agreed a partnership with the UK sustainable power firm to also buy a 50MW project in Scotland from Gigabox Developments.
Financial details were undisclosed.
Eelpower CEO, Mark Simon, said: “We are delighted to be working with SUSI Partners in what is their first investment in the UK’s energy storage market.
“The establishment of this joint venture comes at an important moment in the development of the UK electricity system.”
SUSI, which specialises in sustainable energy infrastructure investments, currently manages €1.5bn in investor commitments across six institutional funds. The company has a track record of more than 100 transactions in 20 countries to date.
