Stoneweg has acquired MC Property, a pan-European real estate investment company focused on the industrial, office and infrastructure sectors, recently created by four former Cromwell Property and Valad Europe managers.
In June last year, former Cromwell European managing director Mark McLaughlin, head of investment for Europe and head of UK Rob Cotterell, previous head of real estate Europe and Benelux Wouter Zwetsloot, and ex-Valad Europe fund manager and later property director at Bizspace Martin Hanratty launched the partner-owned MC Property.
Following the acquisition by Stoneweg, McLaughlin, Cotterell and Zwetsloot will assume senior leadership roles at Stoneweg. Hanratty will collaborate with the group to source new investment opportunities.
McLaughlin said: “Joining forces with Stoneweg is an exciting milestone for our team. We have developed a strong relationship with the Stoneweg and Icona teams, and we look forward to leveraging our collective expertise to drive long-term value for investors and stakeholders.”
Jaume Sabater, CEO of Stoneweg, said: “We are thrilled to welcome the MC Property team to the Stoneweg Group. Their deep industry expertise and hands-on experience in real estate investment and asset management will be instrumental in strengthening our platform and expanding our presence across key markets.”
Stoneweg’s acquisition of MC Property builds upon previous transactions. In May last year, Stoneweg acquired the Cromwell European fund management platform. Last month, the firm acquired a majority stake in Fundim, entering the Swiss residential market.
