European real estate investment association INREV has announced the appointment of Casper Hesp as its new CEO.
Hesp joins INREV from Dutch real estate fund manager Achmea Real Estate, where he was director of investment management.
He succeeds Lonneke Löwik who had been CEO for more than six years and whose departure was announced in March.
Hesp will join on 1 October, taking over from interim CEO Jeff Rupp, INREV’s director of public affairs.
Hesp is responsible for Achmea’s investment management team, overseeing the management of funds, separate accounts and international investments.
He previously worked for INREV between 2007 and 2014, most latterly as director of research and market information.
After joining Achmea, he remained closely involved with INREV, including as chair of the association’s training and education committee.
Martin Lemke, INREV’s chairman, said: “Casper has a proven track record of success as a leader of change. His breadth of experience will be of significant benefit to INREV as we continue to help the European non-listed real estate industry adapt to the challenges and opportunities of the future.”
Hesp said: ‘I am very excited to be joining INREV at such an interesting point in the association’s history. As a former INREV member, I have witnessed first-hand how the association has helped shape the industry to date.
“Now, I very much look forward to working closely with the management board, the wider INREV team and members, and to guiding the association through the next phase of its evolution.”
