A joint venture between Pictet Alternative Advisors and Scantum DW has acquired a logistics asset in Germany from LyondellBasell.

The partnership has acquired a warehouse on a 22,000sqm plot in Kerpen, within the Rhine-Ruhr metropolitan region, for an undisclosed sum to develop a modern 14,000sqm logistics asset.

The existing facility at Hüttenstraße 122–124 will remain occupied by LyondellBasell until the end of the year, after which the property will be demolished to make way for the new logistics build.

The project is scheduled for completion in early 2028.

The latest acquisition expands the joint venture’s platform strategy, which now comprises two warehouses totalling 35,000sqm upon completion. This follows Pictet and Scantum’s joint purchase of a property in Hochheim am Main in 2025.

Simon Geldmann, Pictet Alternative Advisors, said: “With the acquisition in Kerpen, we are securing another asset in a highly attractive location in one of Germany’s most important logistics regions.

“The project is consistent with our strategy of creating modern, sustainable, and highly flexible logistics spaces that meet the requirements of urban supply chains.”

Alexander Polsak, Scantum DW, said: “The combination of an excellent location, development potential, and our clear commitment to sustainability makes this acquisition particularly attractive.

“With our new platform, we are also creating a scalable structure to specifically invest in future-proof logistics properties.”
