Stonepeak – Yuichi Jimbo has been appointed chairman, Japan. He most recently worked at Bank of America, as chairman of investment banking and vice-chairman at BofA Securities Japan. Before joining Bank of America, he was deputy president and head of investment banking at Citigroup Global Markets Japan, where he also served on the board of directors and management committee. Previously, Jimbo was deputy president and head of investment banking of JP Morgan in Japan. He began his career with the Bank of Tokyo.
CBRE – The global real estate adviser has appointed Anurag Sharma as an executive director and head of loan advisory in the loan-servicing team. In his new role, Sharma will be responsible for helping European clients navigate distressed debt situations as well as running CBRE’s €22bn European loan platform. Sharma joins from Lone Star, where he was responsible for investments across Europe, covering distressed debt and real estate. Prior to that he was a fund manager at LendInvest. He previously led CBRE’s loan advisory team from 2016 to 2020.
The Urban Land Institute – Angela Cain has been appointed global chief executive officer, effective 3 September 2024. Cain brings more than 25 years of global non-profit and leadership experience in the corporate real estate sector. Cain most recently served as CEO of CoreNet Global, a professional association for corporate real estate executives. Before joining CoreNet Global, Cain served as CEO of a state branch of the National Association of REALTORS and as VP of global events for NACORE International. Anne Kavanagh, the former CEO of residential and mixed-use developer Telford Homes, has been appointed as chair of ULI Europe. Kavanagh succeeds Lars Huber, CEO of Hines Europe, and will serve on a voluntary basis for a two-year term which officially began on 1 July 2024. Kavanagh has been an active member of ULI since 2001. She has served on the ULI global board of directors since 2019, has been a global governing trustee since 2011, and is also a member of the European Living Concepts Council. She previously served as the UK national council chair, as well as on many committees, including the ULI Europe executive committee.
Newcore – Anne Copeland has been appointed to the new role of head of institutional capital and responsibility for creating and managing funds for the firm’s institutional clients. Copeland was previously co-head of social infrastructure at Alpha Real Estate. Copeland also held senior fund management roles at Aegon, Aviva, and Schroders, and pioneered the development of specialist funds focused on social infrastructure, healthcare and housing.
British Property Federation – Jo Allen, CEO of Frogmore, has been appointed junior vice-president. Allen joins the BPF’s board and will work alongside the current leadership team, which includes Jessica Hardman, CEO of DWS UK, who following the AGM becomes president of the BPF, and Simon Carter, CEO of British Land, who becomes vice-president. Mark Allan, CEO of Landsec, becomes immediate past president, having served as president since July 2023.
Ascott – Joseph Wong has been appointed managing director for China. He will sit on the Ascott leadership council. Prior to joining Ascott, he was with IHG Hotels & Resorts as vice-president, franchise performance at Holiday Inn Express, Greater China. Venessa Koo has been recruited to be Ascott’s vice-president, business development for Hong Kong, Taiwan, the Philippines and Vietnam. Teo Junrong is the vice-president, business development for Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia. Most recently, Teo was director of capital markets and advisory Asia, at Colliers Hotels & Leisure Asia. Thomas Lamson becomes vice-president, business development and product & technical services for Europe, Middle East and Africa. Prior to joining Ascott, Lamson was the chief development, design & real estate officer at Adagio. He was previously with JLL Hotels & Hospitality as director of capital market covering France, Belgium and Switzerland. Steven Chan is the vice-president, global franchise services and regional general manager for Indochina. Chan joins Ascott from Travelodge Asia, where he was COO. Sophie Mougel takes on the role of vice-president, strategy and regional general manager for the Philippines and Malaysia. She was most recently director of operations for Southeast Asia & Korea with IHG Hotels & Resorts. Prior to IHG, Mougel led the Asia Pacific, excluding China, team at Starwood Hotels & Resorts.
JLL – Keehoon Lee has been promoted to lead JLL Korea’s capital markets team, with immediate effect. In his expanded role, he will work closely with Taeho Yi, JLL’s country head for Korea and the firm’s regional and global capital markets team. Lee joined JLL’s capital markets team in Korea in August 2017 and prior to that he served in a variety of senior roles at MDM Asset Management Company, Hyundai Motor Investment & Securities Company, Eugene Investment & Securities Company, and Savills Korea.
Cushman & Wakefield – The global real estate services firm has appointed Anthony Dixon as head of living land and development. Dixon joins from independent property consultancy Allsop, where he spent the past 14 years in the residential transactional and living markets team. At Cushman & Wakefield, Dixon will lead development and land transactions, and advise clients across the living sectors, including all tenures of residential, senior living, PBSA and co-living.
Watts Group – The UK property and construction specialist has appointed Rob Burke as lead director of its commercial building surveying team in London. He is re-joining Watts where he previously spent 15 years, rising from associate to director.
Gibson Energy – Curtis Philippon has been appointed president and CEO, effective 29 August 2024. Philippon brings over 20 years’ experience in the North American energy sector in increasingly senior roles, most recently, as EVP, superior plus and president at Certarus. Prior to this role, Philippon was the president & CEO of Certarus.
