AEW, BlackRock, Legal & General Capital, Fiera Real Estate, Savills Investment Management, Europa, JLL, Hines, GLP Capital Partners, Segro, BioMed Realty, John Mattson

AEW – Natixis Investment Managers is transferring its private debt business business to be combined with the real estate debt platform of its affiliate AEW. Jonathan Stevens, previously head of infrastructure debt for Europe at BlackRock, has been hired to lead the new €3bn platform, which will also include private infrastructure credit and real assets debt. Stevens will be based in London and report to AEW’s European CEO, Rob Wilkinson. He will also join AEW’s European Executive Committee. A team of 21 professionals, including CIO Denis Prouteau, are transferring to AEW to make up an enlarged team of 29. AEW has also announced its plans for the future management of its German platform. Christina Ofschonka will be appointed head of AEW Germany in November 2024, following the decision by Stephan Boenning to retire. Boenning has led AEW’s German business for 18 years. Ofschonka is currently head of fund management for AEW’s German platform.

Legal & General CapitalSteven Wright has been appointed portfolio director for housing at the alternative assets platform of UK insurer Legal & General. In the new role, he will report to managing director of housing Simon Century. Wright was previously head of corporate investments at Fiera Real Estate, where he led the multifamily build-to-rent strategy and oversaw mixed-use development sites.

Savills Investment Management – The real estate investment manager has appointed Daniel Hohenthanner and Evert Castelein as co-heads for the firm’s European €6bn industrial and logistics business. Castelein, who joined the firm as a senior fund manager in January this year, has over 20 years of experience. Hohenthanner joined Savills IM in September 2011 and has been director of investment and fund manager for various European logistics strategies. Castelein will continue to be based in Amsterdam and Hohenthanner in Munich.

Europa – The European real estate investment manager has appointed Hamish Cameron as director and living asset manager. He joins from JLL where he spent the past five years specialising in ‘living’ residential sectors across Europe. He will be based in London and report to Ed Crockett, head of residential investment.

Hines – The global real estate fund manager is expanding its Asia platform with a new value-add strategy led by industry veteran Caleb Shen. Shen has been appointed senior managing director to oversee the yet-to-be-launched Hines Asia Real Estate Partners. Shen, reporting to Asia CIO Chiang Ling Ng, was most recently head of Asia portfolio and asset management for GLP Capital Partners.

Segro Philipp Oevermann has been appointed to lead the listed industrial property company’s investment activities in continental Europe. Oevermann has been with Segro for more than five years and was previously director of logistics in Germany.

BioMed Realty – Marie Lewis has been appointed executive vice president and general counsel and will be responsible for legal, integration and communications functions. Lewis joined the company in 2013 as managing attorney for the real estate legal department. Before that, she was a managing attorney at Sempra Energy.

John MattsonEbba Pilo Karth has been appointed chief financial office (CFO) at the Swedish housing company. She will assume her role by 1 April 2024 at the latest and will join  the company management at that time. Until then, Eva Wiklund will hold the role of interim CFO. Karth joins from Forsen, where she has held the role of CFO since 2021.
