Man Group – Jon Rickert has been appointed to lead the investment manager’s commercial and residential real estate debt team in Europe. As head of European private debt, Rickert will support the ongoing expansion of its global private markets business, Man GPM. Rickert joins from GAM where he led the real estate debt business for the last three years. He spent 15 years at JP Morgan where he was one of the original members of their direct loan origination team. In 2012, he joined Renshaw Bay as managing partner and founded their real estate debt investment business.
Urban Exposure – The specialist residential asset manager has appointed Sam Dobbyn to join the company’s board as CFO. Dobbyn’s appointment is expected to commence in late July. At the same time, the company’s finance director, Trevor DaCosta, will step down from the board and will continue to work at Urban Exposure as finance director. Dobbyn joins from TP ICAP where he was head of financial planning and analysis and investor relations, having previously held the same role at Brit. He has over 15 years’ experience in the financial services sector, including roles at ratings agency AM Best, Deloitte and PricewaterhouseCoopers.
ATP – Allan Mikkelsen has left ATP Real Estate, having been deputy head of the ATP subsidiary’s foreign investments. Following the arrival of Martin Vang Hansen as ATP Real Estate’s new chief executive at the beginning of this year, changes are taking place at the operation, which hopes to have a new CIO appointed before the summer.
Orchard Street Investment Management – Paul Nicholson has joined the specialist commercial property investment manager’s retail team as asset manager. In his new role, Nicholson will form part of the team responsible for managing Orchard Street’s £1.2bn retail portfolio. He joins from Savills, where he spent the past 11 years and was until recently an associate director in its retail team. Nicholson spent the last nine months on secondment to British Land as a leasing director.
INREV – Ray Adderley from Nuveen Real Estate has joined the real estate association’s management board. Adderley is head of performance and investment process at Nuveen. Previously, Adderley was chair of the INREV performance measurement committee. He is currently co-chair of the global performance measurement taskforce. Wenzel Hoberg and Allan Mikkelsen will step down from the INREV management board, having served their maximum terms. Isabelle Scemama, CEO of AXA IM, will take over from Hoberg as vice chair; while Michael Hornby, partner at EY, becomes treasurer in place of Mikkelsen. Constantin Sorlescu has been named new director of professional standards. Hedda Hollander has been promoted to director of events and education and Johlyn da Prato is the new director of marketing and communication.
Orlandis Capital – The provider of joint venture equity to UK residential property developers has appointed Adam Van West commercial manager. He joins the company from Mace. He will be responsible for construction monitoring across the Orlandis Capital portfolio.
Astarte Capital Partners – The specialist alternatives co-investment platform has appointed Nick Clayton as investment director and Shaun Allan as investment associate in the investment team in London. Prior to joining Astarte Capital, he worked in fund management and investment at BlackRock and MGPA. Prior to joining MGPA, Clayton worked for the boutique investment bank Oriel Securities (now Stifel) covering the real estate and retail sectors. Clayton started his career at KPMG in financial advisory. Allan joins from Royal Bank of Canada in London, where he spent almost two years advising on the buy side and sell side M&A transactions across the utilities, renewables and transport sectors. Prior to RBC, he spent 18 months working at Deloitte Consulting in London with a focus on strategy and analytics projects.
JCRA – The independent financial risk advisor has appointment Rhona Macpherson as an associate director within its real estate division. Macpherson will focus on providing hedging solutions to clients as well as driving new business development. Macpherson joins JCRA from EY where she was part of the hedging risk advisory team. She and previously held senior roles at UBS and Deutsche Bank.
Hammerson – The shopping centre owner has appointed Abby Hughes senior leasing manager for food and beverage and leisure. Hughes has extensive experience of the fine dining sector, and has worked in partnership with a number of high profile names including several Michelin Star chefs.Hughes recently managed contract catering at Selfridges and the FT.
NBIM – Karsten Kallevig has become part of the 12-strong leadership team behind Norway’s sovereign wealth fund, stepping into the new role of real estate CIO at Norges Bank Investment Management after the bank’s decision to liquidate the separate real estate arm he ran. Kallevig had been NBREM’s chief executive since it started in July 2014.
