Warburg Pincus – Jeffrey Perlman, current head of the private equity firm’s Southeast Asia and Asia-Pacific real estate business, has been promoted to the role of president. IPE Real Assets understands that a successor to Perlman is not expected to be announced soon and he will continue to have oversight of the real estate interests of Warburg Pincus. Perlman will relocate from Singapore to New York to take up his new role. He will continue to chair ESR Group and serve as an executive director of the pan-Asian logistics firm. Perlman joined Warburg Pincus 17 years ago and has been a member of the firm’s executive management group since 2018. Timothy Geithner, current president of Warburg Pincus, will become chairman, while Chip Kaye will remain CEO of the firm.
Eastdil Secured – The global real estate investment bank has appointed Rob Walters as managing director. Walters will be based in the Washington, DC office and will lead the firm’s data centre and digital infrastructure business, focused on sales, leasing, joint ventures and financing. Walters joins Eastdil Secured from Avison Young, where he served as principal and led the firm’s data centre practice in both investment sales and leasing.
Boreal IM – Marcel den Adel and William Preece have joined the European real estate investment manager’s asset management team. Den Adel, who will be based in the Netherlands, was most recently a regional director at Mileway and joins as principal. He will be responsible for managing Boreal’s Dutch assets. Preece, who joins from UK logistics developer and asset manager Canmoor, has been appointed as VP and will look after the management of the UK portfolio. Both will report to Peter Bingel, who is responsible for the asset management and finance teams, and they will be closely involved in Boreal’s ESG activities. Den Adel brings over 15 years of experience to Boreal, including roles at Mileway and M7. He was a senior asset manager for M7’s Netherlands value-add portfolio. Preece’s 11 years in the industry have included roles at King Sturge/JLL, CBRE and Fletcher King.
Industrials REIT – Julian Carey, current managing director, has been promoted to CEO. The promotion follows the decision by Paul Arenson, Industrials REIT’s current CEO and founder of the business, to step away from the day-to-day running of the company to focus on his other business interests, while remaining as a senior strategic adviser to the business. Carey joined Industrials REIT in July 2017 when C2 Capital, the specialist MLI fund manager he founded in 2009, was acquired by the company.
TIME Investments – Tom Mullard has been hired to the newly created business line director for tax role. Mullard is responsible for the oversight and day-to-day management of the TIME tax services, including TIME:Advance, TIME:AIM and TIME:CTC. Prior to joining TIME, Mullard was at Downing for over 12 years, where he was a director of the product team. He initially joined as a fund accountant before taking on a new role in 2016.
Qualitas – David Porter and Tom Keenan have joined Melbourne-based real estate investment management firm. Porter has been appointed head of institutional capital and Keenan as head of international wholesale capital. Porter, formerly of BlackRock Australia, will be tasked with building new and existing relationships with institutional clients across Australia and globally, with a focus on Europe and Asia-Pacific. Keenan joins Qualitas from MLC Asset Management. He will be responsible for capital raising in private banking and multi-manager channels offshore, and will oversee commercial development of the Qualitas client base.
Irwin Mitchell – The law firm has expanded its real estate disputes team with the recruitment of a new partner, William Scott, who will be based in the firm’s London office. Scott will be working with the London head of real estate disputes, partner Paul Henson in a team of seven specialist real estate disputes lawyers in London. He joins Irwin Mitchell from Bates Wells where he was head of real estate disputes since April 2019, having joined the firm as a solicitor in 2008.
Harworth – Andrew Pexton has been appointed regional director for North West UK region. Pexton joins from JLL, where he was a senior director leading the firm’s Manchester industrial and logistics team. Prior to joining JLL in 2020, he spent 26 years at Avison Young in Manchester, where he was latterly a director within its industrial & logistics team.
