Oxford Properties – The global real estate investor has appointed Hala El Akl ESG and operations senior director. She will be based in London and will oversee Oxford’s ESG programme with a focus on operations. El Akl will work collaboratively across functions such as asset management, operations, development and finance/investment risk to launch Oxford’s global ESG strategy and framework. She joins Oxford from PLP Architecture, where she spent 12 years and was most recently a director, responsible for commercial, life-science, residential, retail and mixed-use projects across the UK, Europe, the Middle East and Asia. As a founding director of PLP Labs, she led teams exploring new ideas for future cities, with a focus on environmental and social sustainability.

CBRE Investment Management – Piet van Poppel has been appointed head of logistics transactions management; Rob Trevor has been appointed logistics client experience lead; Harald Evers will take up the role of logistics property platform lead and David Horvath has been appointed director of logistics transactions. Van Poppel has been with CBRE IM since 2005. In his new role, Van Poppel will work closely together with David Horvath, who has been promoted to director of logistics transactions EMEA, having joined CBRE Investment Management in 2016. As logistics client experience lead EMEA, Trevor will be responsible for accelerating the firm’s customer experience culture across Europe, whilst also delivering his role as head of logistics asset management in the UK. Trevor has worked at CBRE IM since 2009. Having joined CBRE IM in 2019, Evers has been appointed logistics property platform lead EMEA. In this role, he will be responsible for further strengthening the firm’s logistics asset management platform across Europe, by optimising processes and tooling to empower the local specialised operator teams, to deliver on investment and sustainability performance as well as clients’ satisfaction. Previously he was portfolio manager for CBRE IM’s logistics funds.

Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners – Thomas Kønig has been appointed as a new partner of the Danish investment firm. He joins CIP from his current role as head of asset management for the Nordic region at Goldman Sachs. Prior to this, Kønig was managing director at Deutsche Bank from 2007 to 2019. In a post on LinkedIn, Kønig said he would take up his new job at CIP in June, adding that it was “an important point in time to becoming part of a dedicated and industry-leading team within the world of renewable energy”.

Cohen & SteersAnthony Corriggio has been appointed senior VP and portfolio manager for Cohen & Steers’ private real estate group. In the newly created position, Corriggio will report to James S Corl, head of private real estate and will be responsible for the fund management components of the group. Corriggio also joins the Cohen & Steers private real estate investment committee.

Madison International Realty – The real estate private equity firm has appointed Alex Lukesch as head of European investments. Lukesch joined Madison in 2008, was named managing director in 2019, and will continue to be based in Madison’s London office.

Acore Capital – The commercial real estate finance company has appointed Roger W Conner as managing director and COO of marketing and investor relations. Conner joins from Bridge Investment Group where he served as director and COO of the firm’s client solutions business. Prior to his tenure at Bridge, he was a VP in Brookfield Asset Management’s private funds group. Before that, Conner worked at Bloomberg where he served as team leader for Bloomberg private equity. 

Real ISRémy Vanwalscappel has been appointed head of asset management of Real IS France. He will be responsible for the management of portfolio properties in Belgium, France and Luxembourg. Vanwalscappel joined Real IS France in 2013. He is responsible for the asset management division. Before he came to Real IS, he held the position of associate director at BNP Paribas REPM and headed the international investors department of Nexity.

Pi Labs – The global proptech venture capital firm has appointed Stefania Ponzo as a partner. At Pi Labs, her role will be focused on overseeing the VC firm’s growing portfolio, and ensuring portfolio company founders have the strategic, financial and commercial support required in order to achieve global scale. Based in London, Ponzo spent seven years at Coutts private bank. She subsequently led fintech investments at Downing Ventures. More recently, she was a portfolio director at Pembroke VCT

HeimstadenSon André Hval has been appointed group commercial lettings director. Hval will join from Cushman & Wakefield Realkapital where he is head of retail services.

GoodmanHilary Spann has joined the boards of Goodman Group and Goodman Funds Management, as an independent director. Spann is currently a senior executive at NYSE-listed Boston Properties, based in New York. She was previously the head of real estate for the Americas at CPP Investments and prior to that she held a number of senior real estate roles at JPMorgan in the US.

Aquila CapitalJonathan Webb has been appointed international client advisory managing director. In this new role, Webb will be responsible for delivering the company’s innovative investment solutions to the UK and Ireland market. He will work closely with the teams throughout Aquila Capital, including asset structuring and portfolio management, to identify ways to help investors access our essential asset classes, and meet their long-term financial goals while contributing to the energy transition. Prior to joining Aquila Capital, he worked as a senior VP for PIMCO in London, where he was most recently responsible for UK insurance sector client relationships. Before that, he worked as a derivatives trader for National Australia Bank in London.
