Barings – Maureen Joyce has been appointed head of US real estate equity asset management. She was most recently managing director and head of asset management and separate acccounts at AEW. Joyce will be responsible for the strategic direction and business execution of real estate equity assets across all US mandates.
Schroders Capital – James MacNamara has left SVP Global, where he was co-head of European real estate, to take on the newly created role of head of operational real estate strategies. The appointment will bolster the hotel management team led by Frédéric de Brem, and MacNamara will also help to develop other operational real estate strategies.
Sera Global – The real assets adviser has bolstered its real estate practice. Eion Bastible has left UBS Asset Managaement, where he was head of business development EMEA for real estate, to lead capital coverage, origination and business development for Sera Global’s private capital advisory business in EMEA. Ian Currie, previously at MEC Global Partners – and Europa Capital and Nuveen before that – has joined as executive director. Patricia Wilkinson has also joined from Threadmark as partner to co-lead project management across real assets. Alexandra Cromer joins as another partner and co-lead for project management and deal management. Cromer was previously at Atlantic-Pacific Capital.
CA Ventures – The Chicago-based real estate investment has hired Sarah Quinn as operations director of Novel Student, its in-house purpose-built student-accommodation management platform. Quinn was previously head of operations at Moda Living.
JLL – Kasper Deforche, the CEO of Belgian real estate investment trust Euronext, will become JLL’s new CEO for Belgium and Luxembourg in November.
CBRE – Brian Wolf has joined CBRE Capital Markets as chief underwriter for affordable housing. He joins from Fannie Mae, where he spent 14 years and was most recently co-head of its multifamily affordable housing business.
Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner – The law firm has hired Kwon Lee as partner and global head of its Korea real estate practice in New York. Lee was previously co-head of the US Asia Real Estate practice at Mayer Brown.
