People moves: Ivanhoé Cambridge appoints Daumann head of German investments [updated]

Ivanhoé CambridgeChristian Daumann has been appointed head of investments for Germany as the real estate investor opens an office in Berlin. Daumann is joining Ivanhoé Cambridge to further the company’s pan-European strategy and grow its investments in German real estate. From 2015 to 2018, Daumann was CIO at Hamburg Trust. From 2008 to 2012, he headed Cerberus-owned LNR Group in Germany. Subsequently, Daumann became executive board member at German-British CR Investment Management. He joined Morgan Stanley in 2006, where he served as vice president in charge of real estate asset management of core funds in Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden and Austria. 

Cushman & Wakefield – Hassan Farran has been appointed partner to head the real estate services firm’s Middle East desk in the EMEA capital markets team, based in London. Farran joins from Savills where he led the advisory teams on transactions for Middle Eastern clients. Prior to this role, Farran worked for Bena Properties in Syria advising on viable funding structures for real estate developments. Julien Bonnefoy has joined the company’s capital markets department in France as partner to head of office investment services for all regional markets. Bonnefoy began his career in real estate in 1998 at Knight Frank, where he became head of capital markets in 2006. Since 2015, he has been the head of the capital markets at Colliers International, France.

LGIM Real AssetsTerry Martin has been appointed senior asset manager to focus on retail properties. Martin’s role will be focused on all retail and leisure holdings in the Linked Life and Pension Funds. He joins from Savills Investment Management where he managed a large portfolio of retail assets in the UK and Continental Europe across various funds.

St. Modwen PropertiesSarah Whitney will be appointed as a non-executive director. She will join the audit, nomination and remuneration committees of the board on her appointment. Whitney currently holds several senior appointments including acting as a member of the supervisory board of global infrastructure investment company BBGI; trustee and chair of the audit committee at The Land Restoration Trust; and trustee and chair of the investment committee at The Canal & River Trust. She is treasurer and a member of the council of University College London, where she also chairs the investment committee and a senior visiting fellow at the University of Cambridge department of land economy. Sarah’s prior roles include five years as an executive director at CBRE until 2012, three years as a managing director at DTZ Holdings, and seven years at PwC.

Infracapital – The infrastructure equity investment arm of M&G Prudential has appointed Herman Deetman and Christophe Bordes as managing directors. He has spent his career at HSBC, Deutsche Bank, UBS Investment Bank and Kleinwort Benson. Bordes joins Infracapital from Societe Generale Corporate & Investment Banking, where he was head of power, utilities and infrastructure. During his 18 years at Societe Generale, he covered energy, utilities and transport infrastructure. Prior to this, Bordes worked at Arthur Andersen and Fournier Pharma. 

Capital Bay Group – The Berlin-based property investor has appointed Rolf Engel CFO to take over from Christoph Geissler. Geissler will focus on his CIO role. Engel joins from International Campus Group, which he co-founded in 2011. Engel has also worked as CEO and member of the board of various commercial banks, international brokers and investment companies like Hornblower Fischer.

HRL MorrisonVincent Gerritsen has joined the infrastructure manager in London office to head up the build-out of the company’s European private markets investment team. Prior to joining Morrison, Gerritsen was partner at a European mid-market infrastructure fund manager. Before that, he was a senior investment manager infrastructure at PGGM.

AMP CapitalKit Georgeos has been appointed fund manager for the A$6bn AMP Capital Wholesale Office Fund, AMP Capital’s flagship office pooled fund. She will be involved with the fund’s office development pipeline including Quay Quarter, Wynyard and South Eveleigh in Sydney. Georgeos joins from GPT, where she has been deputy fund manager for the GPT Wholesale Office Fund for the last three and a half years. 

Aviva Investors – Ed Dixon has been appointed to fill the newly created role of head of environmental, social and governance (ESG) for the asset manager’s £45bn real assets platform, encompassing real estate, infrastructure and private debt. He joined the asset manager on 16 September, having most recently been sustainability insights director at commercial property development and investment company Landsec

Gresham House – The UK-based alternatives specialist has recruited Samia Lone as head of legal. She joins from the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority where she was a private equities lawyer, advising on a range of strategies for the sovereign wealth fund. Lone has previously worked at law firms Ashurst, Proskauer Rose and Morgan, Lewis & Bockius.

Edmond de Rothschild Asset Management – Fiona Southall has joined Edmond de Rothschild AM as a senior sales specialist for private markets, responsible for distribution of the firm’s private equity, real estate and infrastructure debt strategies. Southall previously spent nearly 13 years at AXA Investment Managers in a variety of business development roles, most recently in its real assets arm. She has also worked for Merrill Lynch, Ernst & Young and Arthur Andersen.

Carter Jonas – The property consultant has appointed John Knight as a partner and head of national investment. He will be based out of Carter Jonas’ headquarters in London. Knight was previously a director of the national markets office investment department at BNP Paribas Real Estate and formally Strutt & Parker.
