Heimstaden – The European residential real estate company has appointed Christian Birrell as managing director and head of UK investments. Birrell joins from DTZ Investors, where he led its residential business for the last six years.
Europa Capital – The pan-European real estate investment manager has appointed Simon Mitchell to the newly created role of construction project manager to further strengthen its development capabilities whilst enhancing best practice construction processes. Mitchell will be responsible for the oversight of construction activities across Europa Capital’s pan-European value add fund series and core fund. He joins from Quartz Project Services.
PRP – Trey O’Shields has joined the real estate manager as its new CFO. In his new role at PRP, O’Shields will be responsible for oversight of financial planning and analysis, financial reporting, tax, audit, and accounting. Prior to joining PRP, O’Shields served as CFO of Bonaventure where he had oversight of FP&A, investor relations, risk management, tax planning and accounting for Bonaventure, and its newly formed REIT. Prior to joining Bonaventure, O’Shields served as CFO of Stonebridge Companies. Prior to Stonebridge, he served as treasurer at UDR. Prior to UDR, he served as VP of securities and debt at Apartment Investment and Management company.
CBRE – The global real estate advisor has appointed Simon Begnor as a sales director within its UK client solutions team, with a focus on the logistics sector. Begnor joins from Jungheinrich where he has been a product manager since 2014. Prior to this, he held various roles across the wider logistics and supply chain market. In his new role, Begnor will be responsible for identifying new business development opportunities and further strengthening CBRE’s network with logistics companies across the UK, as well as providing sector-specific expertise. Ananth Ramchandran has been appointed head of advisory and strategic transactions, hotels and hospitality in Asia. Based in Singapore, Ramchandran will lead CBRE’s hotel advisory business that includes advising owners and operators on the growing branded residential segment. Ramchandran joins from IHG Hotels & Resorts, where he served VP of capital investments and transactions and global head of branded residential.
Hodes Weill & Associates – Barbara Maltha has been appointed principal to lead the firm’s recently opened office in Amsterdam and will play an integral role in the growth of Hodes Weill’s broader European platform by deepening its institutional coverage and business development activities. Maltha spent eight years with CBRE Capital Advisors, where she held a variety of roles. Earlier in her career, Maltha worked with Bouwinvest REIM and Deloitte Corporate Finance, where she held roles in investor relations and sustainability. As part of the expansion, Hodes Weill partner Matt Hershey is relocating from Denver to Amsterdam. In addition to continuing in his role as global head of distribution, Hershey will build out Hodes Weill’s operations in Europe and the Middle East with support from the firm’s three EMEA-regional Principals, Jonathan Read, Rima Batal, and Barbara Maltha.
Primonial REIM – The real estate manager has opened an office in London and appointed Sandra Burrows as head of Primonial REIM UK. The London team will mainly be responsible, at this stage, for ongoing client relations and investor services. The new entity will be jointly led by Stéphane Marguier, who joined Primonial REIM in January as head of international business development and who is also a managing director of Primonial REIM UK, and Burrows, who is a managing director and head of the London office. Burrows joined from Corestate Capital Group.
NREP – The manager has appointed Jens Stender as partner and global markets head to help progress the company’s international growth strategy. Stender joins NREP from global management consulting and executive search firm Egon Zehnder, where he previously served for 14 years as partner and most recently as global co-head of the technology and communications practice. Prior to that, Stender was CEO and founder of MFD Mobiles Fernsehen Deutschland in Germany and held positions as head of M&A with Debitel AG and as an M&A lawyer with Linklaters in the UK and in Germany.
ICG Real Estate – Axel Durand-Smet has joined the partnership capital team as an associate director in Paris, where he will be working on the structuring and origination of deals in the European markets. Durand-Smet joins ICG from Kildare Partners where he was a VP in the investment team and he has a wealth of experience in the European and Nordics markets having worked previously for Sedco Capital, Colony Northstar and Heitman in their respective London offices.
I Squared Capital – Andreas Moon has been appointed partner, Chenhua Shen as fund partner, and Enrico Del Prete as fund partner, bringing the total number of partners at I Squared Capital to eleven.
Kingstone Real Estate – The real estate investment manager has appointed Moritz Wehle as director client capital global. Wehle joins from CBRE Investment Management where he served as a transaction manager. Prior to this, Wehle worked for Allianz Real Estate and Nuveen, gaining several years of experience abroad in the UK and on projects in Ireland and Finland.
Irish Residential Properties REIT – The Irish real estate investment trust has appointed CFO Brian Fagan to the board of directors of the company as an executive director. Fagan will offer himself for election by shareholders at the upcoming annual general meeting. Fagan joined the company as finance director on 26 April 2021. Prior to joining the company Fagan was CFO for Island Capital and prior to that was group finance director of Ballymore Group. He also previously worked for DCC and acted as finance director of Flogas.
