CBRE Investment ManagementZeke Patterson has been appointed director in portfolio management for the company’s US closed-end enhanced return series. In his role with the CBRE US Strategic Partners Value-Add fund series, Patterson will help drive investment performance with responsibilities in portfolio management, capital deployment, and strategic fund construction. Prior to joining CBRE Investment Management in the newly created role, Patterson served as VP at L&B Realty Advisors where he managed a separate account for a foreign private equity client. Prior to that, he held the position of associate VP at Colliers International with a focus on industrial, office and medical real estate. Pamela Boneham, Lynn King-Tolliver and Vance Maddocks have been appointed independent members to the firm’s Americas direct real estate investment committee. Boneham has more than 35 years of US institutional investment experience. In addition to her role with CBRE Investment Management, she serves as a strategic advisor to Ventas Investment Management and as an investment committee member for City of Hope. Recently retired as MD and head of capital strategies for Barings, Boneham also served as the firm’s central region head for real estate equity and was a member of its US equity investment and valuation committees. King-Tolliver was appointed to the Americas direct real estate investment committee in 2021. With 25 years of institutional management experience, she is managing principal of Archere Investment Management. Maddocks became an independent member of the Americas investment committee in January 2022 after serving most recently as non-executive vice-chairman of CBRE Investment Management’s Americas real estate division and as an executive member of the Americas direct real estate investment committee. During his 37-year tenure within CBRE, Maddocks served as CEO and CIO for CBRE Investment Management’s Americas direct business and as global CEO.

Stack Infrastructure – John Eland has joined as CEO of the company’s EMEA business and Adam Tamburini as chief hyperscale officer also in EMEA. Eland most recently served as chief strategy officer of the global data centres division at London-based global technology services company NTT. Tamburini most recently, served as SVP hyperscale Sales at NTT where he was responsible for sales and customer relationships globally with the hyperscale accounts.

Tritax Group –  The logistics real estate investment manager has appointed Alan Somerville as director of ESG. In his role, Somerville will lead the development and implementation of the group’s ESG strategy, as it seeks to strengthen its ESG capabilities and reporting at a manager and fund level. Based in the London office, Somerville started full time on 1 April, having provided some consultancy support since the start of the year. He has led zero-carbon, climate change mitigation, green financing, technology integration and ESG disclosure in his role running ESG consultancy Governex Group and in former roles where he has worked as executive director for BRE; head of energy, infrastructure and sustainability at Cushman & Wakefield; and director of the defence infrastructure organisation bid team at Capita. 

BentallGreenOak  The global real estate investment firm has opened a new office in Austin, Texas and appointed Mike Leifeste as managing director and head of Texas coverage. Leifeste’s responsibilities in this newly created role will include a focus on deepening the firm’s investor relations activities in the region and serving as a critical touchpoint on current and future acquisitions in Texas while developing new operating and developer partner relationships. Leifeste joins from Texas Treasury Safekeeping Trust Company, where he served in various capacities for the past 24 years, including most recently as head of real estate and real assets for the past seven years. 

The City of London Corporation – The governing body of the Square Mile in London has launched a task force to boost skills to decarbonise central London’s commercial buildings. The task force will run for three years and will be chaired by deputy chairman of the City Corporation’s policy and resources committee, Chris Hayward. City Property Association’s CEO Charles Begley will serve as deputy chair. The task force’s strategy steering board, which will be responsible for defining the overall strategy, influence and outputs, is made up of Bola Abisogun, founder and chairman of DiverseCity Surveyors; Tim Balcon, CEO of Construction Industry Training Board; Julia Barrett, chief sustainability officer at Willmott Dixon; David Frise, group CEO at Building Engineering Services Association and member of executive group at Actuate UK; Martin Gettings a portfolio management VP at Brookfield’s real estate business; Alison Gowman a trustee at Trust for London; Emma Hoskyn the UK head of sustainability at JLL; Stuart Lipton, co-founder and partner at Lipton Rogers; Carol Lynch, the CEO of Construction Youth Trust; Iain McIlwee the CEO of Finishes and Interiors Sector; Fiona Morey, the pro-VC for compulsory and further education at the London South Bank University; Benjamin O’Connor at director at New London Architecture; Stephen Pomeroy the founder and CEO of BECG; Hannah Vickers, the chief of staff at Mace and Danna Walker the founder of Built By Us. 

Europa Capital – The pan-European real estate investment manager has appointed Rachel Hanke as managing director, portfolio manager. Hanke will be responsible for recommending and implementing investment and asset management strategies for Europa Capital’s value-add funds series. Hanke has spent the last two years managing private residential investments, alongside advising real estate private equity funds on product development and strategic growth plans. Prior to this, she was a director at FREO Group where she was responsible for group-wide portfolio management initiatives, strategic capital market expansion, and product development for various strategies. Before joining FREO, Hanke was an investment director at Revetas Capital and spent almost eight years at AIG Global Real Estate.

KanAm GrundSimone Ausfelder has been appointed media spokesperson. She succeeds Michael Birnbaum, who retired at the end of 2021. Ausfelder has been senior communications and PR manager at DJE Kapital since April 2016. She has more than 15 years of experience in the fields of marketing, communication and public relations with a focus on finance, asset and wealth management and pension provision.

HIH Invest Real Estate – The investment manager has appointed Felix Meyen as its managing director for transactions to replace Hans-Joachim Lehmann, who has resigned from the post. Meyen has been with HIH Invest since 2005, starting out as asset manager before spending several years in the transaction management Germany unit and eventually taking charge of it in 2015. Lehmann has worked for HIH Invest and its precursor companies for more than 30 years in various roles. Lehmann will supervise the transition within the senior management through the end of the year, and continue to make his experience and know-how available to the HIH Group in an advisory role even beyond that date.

Modulous – The construction technology firm has promoted Jason Bennett-Meere to UK managing director. Bennett-Meere is a tech-focused finance professional who has held roles as head of finance at Nominet UK and divisional finance lead at Microsoft.

MORhomes – The financial borrowing vehicle for housing associations has appointed Anjila Thomas as a new non-executive director. Thomas is a senior managing director at ING Bank with over 28 years of banking experience. She is also a board member of ING‘s London Branch and leads ING UK’s corporate sector team, energy project advisory and transaction services businesses. Prior to joining ING, Anjila was at NatWest Bank covering retail, mid-corporate and large corporate client relationship management and head office credit. Her appointment will take effect from 1 April 2022 and will replace Rob Young, former group CEO of Helena Partnerships and Torus, who will be retiring in August having been with the company since its inception in 2018.

Howard de Walden Estate – The London real estate investor has appointed senior managers David McArthur, head of investment Andrea Merrington, planning and engagement director, and Craig Clements, director of operations, to its executive committee. McArthur has been with the business for 18 months, having joined as head of investment. Prior to this, he spent over 10 years’ working in the central London investment market. Merrington heads up the town planning and engagement team at Howard de Walden. She joined the business in 2009. Clements has been with the business for 24 years, carrying out a variety of roles in the accounting and finance function between 1998 and 2017. In the last 5 years, Clements has led on several initiatives aimed at improving the use of data, processes, and technology across the organisation.
