CBRE Investment Management – Chris Burgess has been appointed ESG lead for indirect real estate. Based in London, Burgess will be at the forefront of interacting with CBRE IM’s clients to communicate the firms’ sustainability practices, initiatives and performance information. Burgess joins from ESG consultancy Evora Global, where he developed ESG strategies for international real estate investment companies. Since 2007 he has spent his career in the sustainability space, including working on development practices across major infrastructure and real estate construction projects for engineering consultancy Arup.
BioMed Realty – William Clarke has been appointed director of leasing in the UK. Clarke joins from Savills’ Cambridge office, where he has spent the last 10 years directly involved in the city’s office, R&D and laboratory leasing markets. Clarke, who will liaise with BioMed Realty’s network of leasing brokers, will work closely with prospective tenants as the company looks to advance leasing activity across its growing UK portfolio.
Valesco – The European real estate investment and asset manager has appointed Stephen Cahoon as managing director to lead the asset management activities and business plan execution. Cahoon who has been appointed head of asset management will be responsible for formulating and implementing strategic asset enhancement initiatives, placemaking, asset repositioning and ESG performance. Cahoon was previously head of asset management, Europe, at Cromwell Property. Prior to this, he held senior leadership roles in the UK for Cromwell Property, including co-head of UK and head of UK asset management.
AEW – The global real estate investment manager has appointed Emmanuel Brechard and Matilda Williams as directors in the investor relations team. Brechard is based in Paris, with responsibility for French-speaking clients and a focus on investors from France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Switzerland and Monaco. Brechard joined AEW in January 2023 from Bpifrance where he spent a total of ten years, including stints in both its Paris and Dubai offices. Brechard also spent four years as a structured finance associate in corporate and real estate whilst at Bpifrance, having started his career as a structured finance analyst at Banque Populaire. Williams is based in London, with responsibility for managing new and existing pan-European investor relationships. Williams joined AEW in October 2022 from the private equity real estate company PineBridge Benson Elliot, where she spent eleven years, progressing to SVP.
Denham Capital – Richard Burrell has joined the global energy transition investment firm’s sustainable infrastructure business as operating partner. Burrell’s primary focus will be on deal origination across the UK and Western Europe. He will also provide strategic support to select portfolio companies, complementing the strengths of the management teams in place. Burrell was previously chief executive of AMP Clean Energy.
Telford Homes – The London-focused residential and mixed-use property developer has appointed Lesley Chen Davison COO. In this role, she will join the firm’s executive committee and be responsible for supporting the execution of Telford Homes’ business strategy. She will lead on the execution of investment and development management reporting to CEO Anne Kavanagh. Chen Davison most recently served as the head of commercial strategy for GoSpace AI, where she oversaw strategic, go-to-market, client and operational initiatives along with investor and partner relationships. Prior to that, she was CIO of Seaforth Land leading the firm’s investment strategy, property acquisitions and financing. She started her real estate career at Deutsche Bank, spending time in both the New York and London offices.
Canada Pension Plan Investment Board – Maximilian Biagosch has been promoted to lead the firm’s real assets business, a role held by Deborah Orida until August last year. Biagosch, who has been named senior managing director and global head of real assets, will also continue to be head of Europe and remains a member of the firm’s senior management team. He joined CPP Investments in 2015 and was most recently senior managing director, head of Europe and direct private equity. Before joining the Canadian firm, Biagosch held senior roles at Permira Advisers, and was an investment banker at Deutsche Bank and BNP Paribas in London. Orida left CPP Investments last year, after 13 years with the firm, to become CEO of fellow Canadian institutional investor PSP Investments.
CBRE Group – Robert Bernard has joined the company as chief sustainability officer and SVP, client sustainability solutions. Bernard previously served as the first chief environmental strategist at Microsoft. Most recently, Bernard founded and served as MD of a private equity firm, Commonwealth Equity Partners, focused on investments in companies that participate in the circular economy. He has also served as an advisor and consultant to National Geographic, Allbirds and Watsco.
Drooms – Javier Meseguer has been appointed as chief revenue officer. He will create the link between product development and sales and, in particular, coordinate the market launch of new products and further developments of the Drooms data rooms internationally. Meseguer was previously general manager for Southern Europe and was responsible for the business activities for real estate, corporate finance and M&As in the markets of Spain, Portugal and Italy. Before joining Drooms in October 2019, Meseguer spent almost one year as sales director at Snowflake. Prior to that, he spent nearly eight years at Intralinks.
Greystone – The US commercial real estate finance firm has appointed Brett Hill as a managing director in Chicago, Illinois. Hill will focus on the origination of conventional multifamily loan products for Greystone’s top 10-ranked agency platforms as well as the origination of the full suite of Greystone lending products, including bridge financing and CMBS. He reports to Vince Mejia, SVP of agency production at Greystone. Prior to joining Greystone, Hill spent 17 years with Wells Fargo, most recently serving as a managing director for the commercial real estate group within the corporate and investment banking division.
Pantheon – Jonathan Lulu has joined the real estate team as managing director, based in Chicago. Lulu was most recently at Jaguar Growth Partners where he led all capital formation, product strategy, investor relations activity, and was a member of the firm’s investment committee.
Cushman & Wakefield – Matthew Clifford has been appointed head of sustainability & ESG, Asia Pacific. Based in Sydney, Clifford will drive the business’s sustainability strategy within the region. He will also chair the Asia Pacific sustainability & ESG operations committee, and, through collaboration with his EMEA and Americas counterparts, further develop Cushman & Wakefield’s global sustainability proposition. Clifford, who joins Cushman & Wakefield from JLL, reports to Asia Pacific CEO Matthew Bouw. Andrew Phipps has been appointed to a newly-created role as global head of sustainability thought leadership with the firm. Phipps, who is based in London, previously led the marketing and research functions for EMEA.
Heimstaden – The European residential real estate manager has appointed Justin Gijsen to the new role of group director of parking letting. Gijsen will be responsible for the international parking strategy and operational parking processes. He is currently head of letting at Heimstaden Netherlands. Gijsen has been part of Heimstaden in the Netherlands ever since the beginning. In 2017, he started as a sales manager at Vivo Wonen, the asset management company that was acquired by Heimstaden in 2019. Gijsen then switched to an asset management role and in 2020 took the responsibility of head of letting for Heimstaden’s Dutch branch. Before joining Heimstaden, Gijsen worked in various other roles in the real estate industry.
CyrusOne – The global data center developer and operator has promoted Andrea Munoz to executive VP and chief customer officer, a new role with the company. Munoz is responsible for an ecosystem of services aimed at delivering high-touch, optimal customer experiences. Her oversight includes data center operations, physical security, customer success, implementations, service delivery, and crisis management. Since joining CyrusOne in 2014, Munoz has led customer-centric initiatives and service delivery teams. Prior to joining CyrusOne, Munoz spent 17 years in the telecommunications industry serving in multiple operational leadership roles.
