Aviva InvestorsAngenika Kunne has been appointed head of infrastructure equity at the investment management arm of UK insurance group Aviva. She will join in January 24 from White Summit Capital where she was co-head of its investment team. She was previously an investment director at Jong Laing with a focus on mid-market renewables and energy infrastructure, and spent 11 years at Macquarie. Kunne will be responsible for the growth of Aviva Investors’ infrastructure equity platform across Europe, including portfolio management and asset origination activities for its climate-transition real assets fund.

DWS  Koichiro Obu has been appointed head of real estate for Japan. He will undertake the position in addition to his current role as head of real estate research for Asia-Pacific. He joined DWS in 2007 and has 28 years of industry experience. For the past 10 years he has led the real estate research function for Asia-Pacific. Previously, he was head of real estate research for Japan and South Korea. Prior to joining DWS, he served as head of real estate and construction within corporate research at Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation in Tokyo, as well as a senior research analyst at Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation in London.

BNP Paribas Real EstateAndré Spehr has been appointed to lead the firm’s international investment team in Germany. He will be responsible for the team’s activities in Germany and will coordinate cross-border transactions and collaboration with national and international teams. Spehr started his career at BNP Paribas Real Estate Germany 28 years ago, including a 15-year stint in the Paris headquarters where he worked as director international investment. In 2022, he was appointed director of the German national investment team.

Europa – The pan-European real estate investment manager has hired Stefano Zucca Marmo as managing director and head of operations. Based in London, Zucca Marmo will be responsible for operational effectiveness and efficiency across the business, including fund operations, fund accounting, tax, real estate finance and IT. He brings more than 15 years’ experience in real estate finance and joins from Precede Capital Partners where he was chief financial officer (CFO).

Tishman Speyer – The global real estate developer and fund manager has hired Reiner Müller as managing director, head of design and construction for northern and central Europe. He has been tasked with expanding the development business in the region from the Berlin office. Müller joins from Signa Group, where he was head of project development, managing projects in northern Germany.

Picton – Saira Johnston has joined the board of the UK listed real estate investment trust and been appointed CFO, effective 1 April 2024. Andrew Dewhirst is to retire at the end of March 2024, having worked with the board to appoint a successor. He will step down from the board but remain with the company until June 2024. Johnston will start in March 2024 as CFO designate. She has spent more than 20 years working in the real estate sector and was most recently CFO of Gravis Capital Management

Empiric Student PropertyJoanne Pollard has been appointed to the newly created role of COO. Pollard who will report to CEO Duncan Garrood, will have responsibility for maintaining and enhancing the firm’s service delivery for residents across its portfolio. Pollard joins from Prime Student Living, where she worked as managing director for three years. Pollard has over 10 years’ experience in student housing and the wider living sector, with previous roles at Campus Living Villages and The Mansion Group, where she held senior positions in operations. Joining Pollard is Frances Abbott, who has been appointed as wellbeing manager to lead the company’s wellbeing offering to residents across its nationwide portfolio, encompassing its Hello Student and PostGrad by Hello Student brands. Abbott has held a number of operational and wellbeing-focused postitions over the past decade. Most recently, Abbott spent over three years as a regional student support manager at Unite Students.

St Modwen LogisticsHoward Hill has been appointed director of asset management for the UK North West region. Hill joins from Harbert Management Corporation, having previously spent nine years in CBRE’s asset management team. Hill will be supported by James Berry who joins St Modwen as an asset manager for the North West. Berry was most recently a senior surveyor at CBRE based in Manchester. In his new role, Berry will oversee the business plans for several of St Modwen’s assets in the North West. Hollie Howe becomes planning director. She joined St Modwen in 2021 after 10 years working for national housebuilders and Savills. Carys Allen, who joined in January 2022, has been promoted to senior development manager and will lead on projects in the South West.

Multi CorporationArnaud du Pont and Pio Fernandez Rijsdijk have been appointed managing directors for the Dutch property management business. The pair are joining from Dutch Properties Group. As part of these appointments, the management mandates and the team of Dutch Properties Group will also transfer to Multi. Du Pont previously held positions at Vastned as managing director and at PwC as a tax lawyer. Rijsdijk has a background in construction and property investing.
