A fund managed by Octopus Group’s specialist clean energy arm has invested in UK wind farms.
Octopus Renewables said the acquisition of the two onshore wind farms, with a combined capacity of 16.8MW, marks the first deployment from the £185m (€206m) Renewable Energy Income Partnership (REIP) III fund.
The South Lanarkshire wind farm was acquired from Muirhall Energy, WWS Renewables and a private investor and the Northamptonshire wind farm was acquired from Muirhall Energy, WWS Renewables and Infinergy.
Peter Dias, investment director at Octopus Renewables, said: “This acquisition adds to our ever-expanding onshore wind portfolio that has seen us become a market leader in the technology.
”REIP III is also a great example of our ability to unblock further institutional investment in renewables by creating bespoke portfolios of assets for investors.”
In January this year, the National Grid UK Pension Scheme awarded a £185m mandate to Octopus Renewables to invest in UK solar and onshore wind assets.
