New York State Teachers Retirement System (NYSTRS) has approved a new $300m (€256.7m) commitment to its separate account relationship with Prima Capital Advisors.

The pension fund said in a meeting document that the new capital will target commercial mortgage-backed securitisation (CMBS) and private real estate debt in the US.

Formed 18 years ago, the Prima Capital separate account was valued at $1.04bn as at the first half of the year.

The portfolio comprises $518m CMBS and $520m worth of real estate debt.
