Niam Infrastructure’s debut fund is investing in electric vehicle (EV) charging hubs in the Nordics and Northern Europe via Nima Energy
The Niam Infra Fund has made a 15% investment in Nima Energy to help Nima roll out EV charging hubs. Niam Infra Fund also has a first right to finance up to SEK500m (€47.6m) of charging sites as part of the partnership with Nima Energy.
Nima Energy develops EV charging infrastructure for passenger cars and commercial vehicles with a focus on large-scale charging hubs together with strong partners and investors. The company’s project portfolio consists of approximately 300 chargers in late development phase and approximately 1,000 chargers in early development phase.
Sverker Åkerblom, the head of Niam Infrastructure, said: “The transition to electric vehicles is contingent on significant infrastructure investments. Together with Nima Energy, we have the opportunity to accelerate this transition by rolling-out ultra-fast and accessible EV charging that cater to the needs of drivers, today and tomorrow.
“We are fully committed to offering accessible and fast charging and plan to invest up to SEK500m into this strategy over the next few years.“
Marcus Landelin, CEO Nima Energy, said the investment from Niam Infra is a ”significant milestone” and will enable Nima Energy to ”accelerate our growth journey to become a leading developer of EV charging hubs”.
”The joint platform with Niam allows Nima Energy to establish charging hubs in strategically and commercially attractive locations for EV drivers,” Landelin said.
